The Aquarius new Moon takes place on January 30. It contains the seed potential destined to unfold as we head into February. Aquarius is known as the sign representing humanitarian love and caring, depicted by a god with an urn on his shoulder. Many are led to believe that water is flowing out of the urn, but actually it is knowledge and wisdom. The keywords representing Aquarius are “I know” and those born under the stars of Aquarius are gifted with great intelligence and an instinct to care for others. They have been given the gift of impersonal love. We might want to take a peek deep into our hearts to see how we measure up to the Aquarian standards of humanitarian love. Love is innate in every heart. Even the meanest and baddest people in our midst will respond to love and kindness. Often, what seems to be missing is the ability to give love to our selves.

Being a fixed air sign, Aquarius can be very stubborn and obstinate in its ways. Speaking of love, Valentine’s Day on February 14 also happens to be a full Moon day, which will serve to heighten our emotions and affections. For those that are single and pining for someone special to enter their lives, this is certainly the time to express those feelings of love and affection. On a deeper level, the love we seek from other people is already wired into our hearts and when the karma gods bring two souls together, we are elated and over the moon in love. Remember the heartthrob you went to high school with, but nothing ever happened between you? That is because you had no karma to work out together in this lifetime. The people we do fall in love with have been travelling with us for countless lifetimes.

We westerners think of karma as negative indebtedness, but karma also represents love, service and devotion. When we meet that special person, we have those uncanny feelings of knowing that person deeply although we don’t know how we know them in that way. When the karma is complete, we move on to the next stage set for our growth and development. If the karma is not cleared up, we may jump the fence thinking the grass is greener on the other side only to find ourselves eating the same grass again. As we know, it takes a prince to win a princess and sometimes we have to kiss a lot of toads before we meet the true prince.

You may feel like you were shot out of a cannon and will hit the net in a couple of years. It’s true; you’re on the move and travelling through space at an incredible rate of speed. Fear not; you will land on your hooves, no doubt. Go with it and strive to be original.

It may be time to reinvent yourself, which is no easy task for your sign. Taurus likes what they like and will never like what they don’t like. But now you are in a time in which flexibility will assist you in becoming successful. Resistance to change will only make your life more difficult.

Blow the dust off that journal and start recording your thoughts, dreams and conversations, as February is destined to be a very mixed bag of cosmic forces you must contend with. Death, taxes and health are just a few topics on the menu. Travel and spirituality are big keys now as well.

Big cosmic forces are at play. You will serve yourself well by striving for the best. Jupiter continues to pour his benevolent energy into your sign. You can party and have a good time or make hay while the sun shines. My hint is to find the balance in all things and give of yourself generously.

The Moon lands in your sign on Valentine’s Day. Leo rules the heart and ofttimes Leo does have a big heart. Have heart and take time to rest and repair. Stresses can be high throughout the month. Strive for clarity and honesty in your communications and dealings, as misunderstandings can take place easily.

Lord Mercury, aka the trickster, hooks up with Neptune, the planet of illusion and confusion. Basically, it means nothing is real and everything is surreal. The antidote for this cosmic combination is to speak the truth, live honourably and triple-check that you are on the same page with coworkers, friends and family members.

As the month begins, take some time to figure out what you want or don’t want in your life any longer. The cosmic dance is quite profound and a lot of energy is pouring into Libra. Use it wisely to help you in making the decisions that will bring the scales to balance.

Now is the time to enter into the deep inner sanctum of your spirit. You may find the dragon you fear the most is not even real, but the fear itself can be very real. Raking over the past won’t help much and the future is spotless. Purify, simplify and free yourself up.

Money and health are general topics for all signs, but they now loom even more meaningfully in your life. Keep in mind that every hair on your head has been counted as well as every breath and what is meant to be yours will be. Not a penny less or more. Relax and nurture your spirit.

A time of reassessment is at hand. Let go and let God is the way to go. Others may go out of your life now or you may leave the scene. Whatever the case, big changes are in the wind. Fear not and, if anything, dance with and accommodate what the universe brings your way.

The much-dreaded Saturn – natural ruler of Capricorn and Aquarius – holds cosmic court over the next two months. Saturn rules the New Moon on January 1 and we best get a handle on what this stern, paternal/maternal guide is all about. Saturn is feared because he is associated with death, discipline, restriction, poverty and disease. Look back to a time in your life when you went through some type of hardship or loss and, guaranteed, Saturn will be in the play. Although we tend to vilify him, he is very much part of the karmic planetary scheme. As Shakespeare so aptly put it, “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings.”

The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto are in the mix with this new Moon energy and it has caused me to raise an eyebrow as to what the significance of this starry mix is all about. Will it mean trouble? No doubt it will. Should we be worried? Yes, if we are predisposed to worrying. Worrying won’t make our problems go away though. Here’s a scenario that may help us have clearer insight into what this planet is all about: When a Mom approaches the crosswalk with her kids, she emphatically warns them of the dangers involved in crossing the street. She might even yell at them in order to convey her seriousness less they dart out into the traffic. The kids may not like it, but they’ll remember it always.

Government, education and justice systems are ruled by Saturn. We are in troubling times and obviously there are myriad complex problems to work through. Yet today’s worries will be replaced with another set of concerns as time marches on. Unrest, wars, revolutions, corruption, pollution, poverty and all the other things we drone on about are on the cosmic menu.

Let’s take Saturn’s symbolism to a deeper level. Saturn carries a sickle so we can cut away from those things that bring us pain and disease. Although Saturn is not a pleasant character to deal with, once you pass his stringent laws and restrictions, you will experience freedom, health and peace. He is Father Time and when we disobey his stringent laws, we pay in the form of disease and suffering. Like Saturday’s child, we must work hard and within the laws of nature. Once we do, we are set free. Although his energy is quite sobering, the lessons we garner through Saturn will carve a deep and sagacious wisdom into our souls.

The trail-blazing pathway you carve out will be trod by many souls in the future. If you’re not sure which way to go, or how to go, just be true to yourself, live honourably and follow your instincts. Your past life experiences will kick in and you will be well on your way.

Although you may get what you want by your sheer will and persistence, will it be enough and will it truly make you happy? My bet is that it won’t. You may be appeased for a while, but not wholly satisfied. Seek, search, pray and meditate for God’s love, which is non-perishable and eternal.

One thousand books read, countless academic degrees attained and still no peace of mind. You are sharp, witty and connected to all kinds of people, yet still no peace. I have found there is a deep well of spirituality in the Gemini soul and it must be nurtured and fed and peace will come.

A great planetary focus is taking place. You must do your best in order to capitalize on it. Material acquisition won’t cut it; neither will any other form of ego aggrandizement. Only God’s love will do. Seek it, yearn for it, pray for it and while you’re at it, what’s meant to be yours will manifest.

Oh, spiritual warrior, where art thou? Hopefully, you’re not counting your dollars and dimes, nor pondering your past attainments. You have a much higher calling. Move forward brave heart and commence your search for the divine. Show us and lead us with your golden ray of the Sun. Strike while the iron is hot.

At some point in your life, you must lay down the question and answer format. The intellect can only get you so far and no farther. A divine time has arrived in which faith and devotion will bring you to new heights, beyond your wildest imagination. Purify and perfect your inner self.

Make war, not peace. Mars, which is totally antithetical to Libra, spends the next several months in your sign. By war, I’m not talking violence. It’s about the internal struggle for freedom, balance and spiritual harmony. Take up your lance and shield, slay the ego and attachment to worldly desires and peace will come.

The Sagittarius new Moon takes place on December 2. The new Moon is best depicted as a seed bursting forth its power and potential in the waxing phase of the lunar cycle. Let’s take a look at the symbolism connected to this very dynamic sign. The pictograph of a Centaur pointing an arrow heavenward carries the implication of the transition from animal to spirit. Overcoming the downward pull of the senses and redirecting our attention to the higher realms of truth and spirit is what Sagittarius is all about. A deep longing for righteousness and purity manifests through this sign. Jupiter, king of the gods, rules Sagittarius. The souls born under the stars of Sagittarius often attain great heights and become giants in their spheres of influence. The Jupiter / Sagittarius energy spikes us onwards and upwards as we sort out where we’re truly at in the cosmic sphere of things. Perhaps we’re lacking in our efforts to do better. We know how easy it is to become distracted, derailed and put off our game. The archer is pointing his arrow heavenward representing his desire to reach the higher realms.

According to the true mystics, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva created the system of stars and universes and all that they imply. The karma we carry with us throughout the incarnations manifests to us via the planets and how they are situated in our birth charts. When the stars and planets are in right alignment, in accordance to our karmic slate, we are birthed in order to work with what we are bringing into this life. When the great mystic Kabir stepped onto the Earth, he saw that no one was happy with their lot. We may grow restless, discontent and dissatisfied with our Earth life. Those that enjoy the wealth and riches and those that exist in poverty may know that their situations are temporary and transitory. In one life, the guard stands in the snowstorm protecting his King. In another life, he is the King and the former King is the guard standing duty.

Things are not as they seem and we’re here for a short while and in the blink of an eye we’re gone. Now is the time to make amends and to make vows to work towards your true emancipation and freedom. The Moon blocks the light of the Sun during the solar eclipse on November 3. Eclipses generally bring on a sense of foreboding, but the only time I would be concerned about an eclipse is when the eclipse touches an important point in our horoscope. The Sun, Moon and planets convey the karmic energy on-board at any given time. Eclipses are known to release all kinds of important karmic ramifications collectively and personally. From the western astrological perspective, the eclipse takes place in Scorpio bringing all types of Scorpionic energies into play. Mercury, Saturn and Rahu are closely associated with the eclipse and it may be worthy to sift through their implications as well.

Scorpio is a sign that is very connected to nature and the overall health of the environment. Scorpio is also a sign of hidden energy, secret agendas, machinations and movements. On the world level, we know there are serious, highly complex and sensitive problems. Saturn represents the laws and rules we must abide by and often dishes out a medicine we may have trouble swallowing. We have the question of the pipelines and the fear of how they will impact our precious environment. Let’s invoke the spirit of Libra. The seventh sign of the zodiac, Libra is a cardinal air sign, ruled by Venus. The cardinal signs carry great power and energy, as Aries initiates the spring season, Cancer the summer, Libra the fall and Capricorn the winter. The element of air, combined with this dynamic cardinal sign, produces some of the most talented, beautiful, creative and profound people on the planet. Venus/Libra would be depicted strongly in the lives of such luminaries as Mahatma Gandhi, John Lennon, Pierre Trudeau and former US President Jimmy Carter. Libra bestows great beauty, grace, charm and a powerful intellect. The new Moon on October 4 releases this dynamic Libra energy and we have an opportunity to use it, abuse it or lose it.

Libra is depicted by a blindfolded woman, holding a sword in one hand and scales in the other. The symbol represents impartial justice, fairness, harmony and balance. If the scales are not balanced, we have injustice, imbalance, war and chaos to deal with. Uranus is involved with this Libra new Moon and it is an indicator that we may be in for a few shocks and surprises as the month unfolds. The world leaders would be wise to use the Venus/Libra energy to negotiate peace, as the alternative will be the use of that sword the Goddess wields in order to help protect the suffering souls that are enduring great pain, hardship and loss. We are the world, we are the people and now the stars are asking for our assistance in bringing world peace closer, rather than further from our grasp.

Another major feature regarding Libra is relationships – be they marital, personal or professional. With Uranus involved with the new Moon energy, we may find it is time to sort things out and shake things up. The inhabitants of the local islands call it “the island shuffle.” Then again, we can get it right and settle down with peace in our hearts. It’s all about love, kindness, consideration and caring for one another, close and far. The full Moon lunar eclipse on October 18 will help us come to terms with whatever is on board at that time. Retrograde Mercury, combined with Saturn throughout the month, does indeed speak of serious negotiations and circumstances developing throughout the land.

“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” (Ecclesiastes chapter 3.)

Astrology is God’s handwriting through the stars. The movement of the planets decrees when certain events are destined to manifest in our lives according to the karma indicated in the birth chart itself. The astrologer’s work is within deciphering what the stars are indicating and presenting that information in a positive and constructive manner. In traditional Western astrology, Saturn is known as a malefic energy bringing grief and suffering, while Jupiter brings joy and abundance. Mars represents anger and aggression, while Venus represents love and affection. Obviously, it would be nice to have Venus and Jupiter prominent in our birth charts. Moving along the same line of reasoning, it would seemingly be beneficial that Mars and Saturn had back seats and small parts to play in the unfolding of karmic energy designed by our past life thoughts and actions.

In Vedic Eastern astrology we find that, according to the positions and condition of the planets at our birth, Venus or Jupiter can become malefic energies, bringing their own form of grief and suffering. Saturn and Mars can become benefic forces that bring very dynamic and profound results when their time to shine arrives. To everything there is a season and a reason as to why we are compelled throughout our cosmic, karmic journey through time.
