“The stars incline, they don’t compel” is a well worn adage in astrological circles. My experience in astrology has taught me the exact opposite truth, that the stars compel big time. As an example, let’s say that you have the moon conjunct Mars in Aries in your birth horoscope. This combination often represents a hothead with a hair trigger temper. Offend this one at your own peril. I suppose we all have isolated incidents in which we may lose our cool and lash out, which is probably considered to be normal behavior in the general population.
If we were to observe our hothead Moon conjunct Mars in Aries character over the course of a few weeks we would find that they are in nearly continuous conflict or potential conflict with the world around them. Be it in traffic or a line up or any activity that requires patience and consideration, we would notice that the Moon/Mars type would not cope too well and most likely will be one of the first ones to blow up and create a scene. Of course we know that they are compelled to behave this way. They are also heroic and will pull off deeds that most of us would never dare to do. They will act before they think. So we could say that the Moon/Mars type is inclined towards freedom of movement and expression, and compelled to react and fight against any kind of resistance or cumbersome obstructions.
While the Moon/Mars character simmers away in the lineup, just looking for an excuse to blow a fuse, we may have a Venusian type, let’s say a person with the Moon conjunct Venus in Taurus, in the lineup with him. While the Mars character can hardly cope with long waits and lineups, the Venusian type is happily chatting away, or listening to his iPod and chewing his gum and probably planning dinner as the line snakes forward ever so slowly. The planetary archetypes are active and observable in all situations of human exchange.
Speaking of planetary archetypes, we will have an opportunity to witness what life offers up as Saturn and Uranus form an exact opposition on April 26, just two days before the full Moon. As we know, the Moon regulates the tidal cycles and when she is full the water line has reached the high tide mark. Tuck that tidy little fact away whilst we peruse the Saturn/Uranus opposition and the possible or probable antics that these two planetary heavyweights bring to the cosmic/karmic play.
Saturn represents the old school, the tried and true way of doing things, while Uranus represents the cutting edge and the future. Saturn represents all governmental agencies and outlets while Uranus represents revolutionaries. Saturn establishes authority and Uranus challenges it, seeks to overrule the old guard and change it, wherever and however it can. Saturn says no, stick to the status quo, the tried and true, and Uranus says blow the door down and try something new. The list is long but the types of events that come to pass during the Saturn Uranus opposition include all types of chaotic occurances like earthquakes, tsunamis, terrorist activities, raging storms, upheaval and revolutions be they tempests in a teapot or major wars breaking out. Shift, shock, change and rearrange are the activities of the times.
Choose your topic and apply the Saturn/Uranus principals to it and you will see the effects first hand. How about the war on drugs? Do you think it might need to be rethought in the light of its absolute failure to stem the problem? How about poverty and homelessness? Can they be rethought and reworked? What of the justice system and all of its failures? Again choose your topic and apply this energy to it and we will see the genesis or the uprising of new movements. Health care, education and all other societal activities get a work over. It’s fear of change versus the hope of freedom and equality for all.
The pundits and protesters cry out for housing and funding for the disadvantaged in our society, but from what I have learned that would only be a Band-Aid. Definitely we need to house and nurture those that are suffering, but in my humble opinion and experience the major difference that will help turn the corner is education, free education for all those that are desiring to learn. No education or opportunities along with poor nutrition does not offer up much hope. Hey, here’s an idea. Let’s work on dismantling the war machines and the fear and paranoia that continually run the show and turn those weapons into books, schools, housing and jobs helping all of our brothers, sisters and children to have a better life. The Saturn/Uranus energy will be in effect until mid August 2010.
Now let’s get back to that full Moon on April 28. The full moon will not only illuminate the night sky above, but will illuminate our inner sky in the sense of bringing revelations and epiphanies our way. Throw the Saturn Uranus opposition into the mix and we have the recipe to shake things up, break away from the past and move towards the future.
Pluto, which is the force of breakdown, decay and renewal, has started to oppose the planets in the Canadian and American birth horoscopes until at least 2020. Within this next decade we will witness profound changes in our cultures and how we conduct ourselves. Out of the ashes, the phoenix rises again and so will we. Nothing but a total rebirth of the original principals of our countries will do. Be it the economy, how we treat the disadvantaged, how we deal with other nations, or whatever, we will have the opportunity to reinvent ourselves and our nation. Roll up your sleeves and lean into the concerns of the day. Throw your hat into the ring and let’s see where we get to in the next ten years.

A most important and fateful time draws near. We think of fate or karma as a negative thing, but in reality fate and karma make up our destiny. Whatever is truly warranted to be ours will come our way and what is not warranted cannot manifest. Riches or poverty, fame or isolation, happiness or sadness, health and sickness are driven by the karma that has fructified in this incarnation.
Three very powerful planets will influence Aries throughout 2010 and 2011. It is almost like the three wisemen appearing, laden with gifts as rewards for past endeavors. Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus cast their respective energies into your sign. Jupiter brings faith, hope and enlightenment. He helps broaden our views and uplifts us in many ways. Saturn seems a bit harsher and his realities are often hard to swallow, but like castor oil, we feel better once we have taken the medicine. Uranus will spend several years in Aries starting in June 2010 and will help to revolutionize yourself in ways that you probably haven’t even dreamed of. Mount up and be ready for a wild ride through time. It is time to meet yourself, head on of course. You will discover many aspects of yourself that have laid dormant, possibly for ages. Start now, by clearing the past and steadying the present.

Your ruling planet Venus spends the month of April visiting Taurus. She is the goddess of beauty and abundance. The urge to make things beautiful comes up and off you go to the hardware store, beauty salon or various types of self help workshops, courses and classes. Mercury, the planet of communication, accompanies Venus. They are friends in the planetary arrangement. When Mercury is around we’re busy. Activities increase and so does our social calendar. Possible delays or communication glitches may come up as Mercury retrogrades in Taurus on April 17 until May 11. Read the fine print and assume nothing until you get the facts. To say less and listen more is best. All in all, you may be in a happy frame of mind anyway, and will just tough out the sore spots as usual. Many opportunities to create harmony present themselves as the spring time moves along.

Home and career sectors in your solar horoscope are active as Saturn and Uranus move through them. It means that a time has come in which your life may be changing in many ways. Career shifts are possible and moves probable. In many ways a new start is indicated and it may take several years to realize the fruit of your present efforts. Fifteen years from now you can look back and remember the time in which all these changes came about. Go with the flow and know that the stars are not so bad for the twins over the next two years in general. Interestingly, there is another hint that career efforts may get a boost as Jupiter moves through your solar career sector. Play the long game as 2012 and 2013 are looking very bright. Get to work and realize your dreams.

It might be worthwhile to note that there is an existing window of opportunity from April 1 to mid June in which you may further your interests and experience some success without a whole lot of effort. The picture changes after that, and what was easily attainable may have to be fought for in the future. You may be restless and casting about, seeking change and adventure. A deep yearning for light and love may drive you on as you seek your inner destiny. It is time to assess and reassess what is real and what is worthy. A sense of dying and birthing takes place as you move away from the past and what was. Release the big pincher and let go of the trammels that have kept you back or held you down. The journey has hardly begun and there are myriad treasure-troves to discover.

Neptune completes his 14 year transit through your opposite sign Aquarius in February 2012. No doubt, at least according to my leonine grapevine, that life’s journey has been odd, strange, wacky, weird and wonderful. Neptune’s major influence will help pry your fingers off of the material world and a deeper spiritual focus eventually comes clear through life’s lens. Neptune can bring a time of isolation, despair and loneliness. The urge to escape it all is strong and many do escape, by way of alcohol and drugs and whatever else that can mask the pain of past failures or losses. A big shift takes place in August 2010. As the Sun moves through Leo, six planets will be moving through the Cardinal signs Aries, Libra and Capricorn, indicating that big movements are afoot as these Cardinal signs represent action on the world level and it takes place on your watch. Of course the Sun is the chief and the planets are his minions. Something’s up, I don’t know what, but it’s hot. I hope you are on the move.

A very powerful opposition between Saturn and Uranus takes place on April 26 and its energy will be on board until the end of August. Saturn moves through Virgo, while Uranus moves through your opposite Sign Pisces. Saturn’s presence usually indicates a time of streamlining and cutting back. Hard work, duty and dedication pay off in the long run. Areas of life that are not working well most likely will get a work over as you continually adapt and adjust to the circumstances that come up from April to August 2010. Jupiter casts his blessings your way in the form of lucky breaks and good timing throughout April and May. Travel opportunities come up in April and life in general will move along at its own pace. As my Guru would say, “Do your best and leave the rest.”
Saturn transits through Libra until October 2012. Fortunately he is exalted in Libra, meaning that he functions well in this sign. Libra is the spirit of the law and Saturn is the letter of the law. Although Saturn’s energy is dour and strict we may find that we will benefit in the end if we learn the powerful and profound lessons that he sends our way. Any area of your life that is out of balance such as your health, relationships or career, must be dealt with during this Saturn transit. It may not be as boring as one may anticipate though, as Jupiter and Uranus will move into your opposite sign Aries starting in June 2010, and by early August Venus and Mars will enter Libra. Five planets will be moving through the cardinal signs Aries, Libra and Capricorn by midsummer and you will be active and on the go. A dynamic summertime is indicated and you must exercise caution with machines, automobiles and equipment as the planetary aspects are hot and dynamic up into mid September. Love and adventure, tears and laughter and the play of life carries on.
The full moon on April 28 takes place in your sign. It indicates a time in which we bring things to completion as we come full term with our endeavors. Emotions are heightened and expressed positive or negative. Mars the original lord of Scorpio is in square aspect with this full moon energy and the effects will carry on for several days after the full moon. You will have to wend your way carefully in order to sidestep the intense and provocative energy at this time. Angry and intense scenarios play themselves out. The Sun continues his journey through your opposite sign Taurus until May 21 and you may want to pay special attention to your health and energy levels as this is your solar low of the year. Otherwise there are many opportunities to do quite well as Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus cast supportive and beneficial energy your way throughout the month. Set a pace that you can live with, create some realistic goals and work towards realizing them.

Lord Jupiter ruler of Sagittarius moves through Pisces throughout April and May. He is lord of both signs. Pisces symbolizes your solar fourth house related to home, family and real estate. Moves, sales, renovations along with a possible new vehicle purchase could be in the works. Career changes may come up, which could be to your benefit. Educational activities become strong priorities and the best is yet to come. Life’s activities and all round energy in general gets a boost, especially in July and August this year. You won’t be bored and you will be busy as new and old friends come up on the screen. It is a good time to join up with others that share similar interests and passions. Babies, new ideas, business opportunities, love and adventure await thee. Saddle up and move em out.

Pluto transits through Capricorn until November 2024 bringing you 14 more years of his special energy. Pluto represents the process of rebirth, life and death, power and wealth. Often times we may feel that we have lost everything under a Pluto transit. Situations occur that we don`t have much control over. As ominous as this information appears to be, it may not be this way at all. Most of us have come across the term, “Plutocrat”. It represents someone powerful and wealthy. Many Capricorns are at the head of this pack. Many of our leaders have strong Saturnine traits as Saturn is ruler of Capricorn.
The nodal axis represents the points on the ecliptic where eclipses take place. If an eclipse lands on an important point in your horoscope some type of karmic play unfolds in your life. The nodes are often overlooked but I keep a wary eye on them. Rahu or the Dragons head which are names for the north node, is moving through Capricorn until March 2011. During this time you may be restless, seeking and acquiring fame and fortune and certainly it is time to get in touch with your destiny. Profound and deep spiritual changes come about when we encounter the Pluto transits and Rahu’s passage may create some restlessness and dissatisfaction that money, nor fame can assuage. Love and spirituality, God realization, sullying the senses and stilling the mind will bring the peace that you seek.

Your co-ruling planets Saturn and Uranus are in an opposition pattern until late August. The two areas most affected in your solar chart are the second and eighth houses. The second house indicates how we earn money, while the eighth house represents other people’s money as in inheritances, joint or shared monies. You may be restless, disturbed and seeking changes in relationships, career and probably overall lifestyle changes that need to be met, acted on and lived. Many Aquarians have been in a Neptunian fog for several years and have lost their direction, spark and pizzazz. Your sense of self has been rattled in some way and now you have to put the pieces back together again. August gets really hot as all kinds of opportunities to better your circumstances present themselves. Travel, education and romance are in the picture.

Jupiter, lord of Pisces, visits his own sign until late January 2011. Uranus the revolutionary planet has been shaking up your world since 2003 with his visit to Pisces. Now these two powerful energies will combine their influences throughout April and May and the results can be fantastic. Jupiter represents faith, vision, prophesy, expansion, happiness and good timing, while Uranus brings innovation, invention and radical changes into our lives. A move across the country or out of it wouldn’t be too surprising. Winning a major lottery, meeting your Guru or your love could be in the stars. Don’t hold back. Live life to the fullest and be all that you can be. Major changes are in the wind and you must accommodate them. Adventure, excitement and change come your way.

Ahem, excuse me, sorry, but we do own the podium and we are darn proud of it! Nay Sayers and whiners step back out of the way as Canada basks in the glory of the day. In the February column regarding the Winter Olympics I warned that there was danger of accidents, mishaps and confusion, which all took place. I also wrote the words below regarding the conclusion of the Games.
In an attempt to weigh up the planetary influences it would be my estimation that by the time of the closing ceremonies on February 28 we will hold our heads up with pride that we weathered, overcame and succeeded wonderfully as the full Moon On February 28 has Jupiter involved and he brings, joy, happiness, abundance, achievement and awards as Jupiter is the ruler of all competitions, athletics and certainly awards of human endeavor and accomplishment. Well Done, Canada!
I think this is a defining moment for us as a people and a country. Tens of thousands poured into the streets of downtown Vancouver. It was totally awesome to witness and participate in the phenomenon of a sea of humanity laughing, crying, high fiving, hugging and dancing through the streets. We will never be the same and we will never bow our heads in shame as a new collective pride and power envelops the land.
Jupiter is known as a soothing balm of healing energy, along with keywords such as abundance, expansion, confidence and vision. Jupiter casts his fine rays onto the chart of Canada throughout February and March 2010. I imagine that the Paralympic Games will be glorious, touching and moving as well. The stars don’t lie. Canada is receiving Jupiter’s abundance and glory in full measure. We are at the pinnacle of achievement and unity. The world has awakened to Canada’s spirit and essence. Oh joyous days, to be savored and nurtured forever.
Sorry, got a little carried away there.
The Spring Equinox takes place on March 20, at 10:32 A.M. PDT. It is considered to be the most important horoscope of the year. It is said that the planetary positions at the time of the equinox are the indicators of the energy that will unfold throughout the upcoming 12 months. The Sun becomes exalted as he moves through Aries and his work can be seen. Mars, lord of Aries has formed a triangle with the Sun as they visit each other’s signs. Mars is traveling through Leo while the Sun travels through Aries. It’s called “mutual reception” and it brings their respective powers to the fore. The triangle pattern indicates an easy flow and dovetailing of their energies. Mars and the Sun are fiery brothers and when in harmony can create a powerful force that must be used appropriately. Canada has come alive and come of age and is certainly a world class country that is truly a show case for the rest of the world. The courage, dedication, commitment and true grit of our nation are evident to the world and now Canada may be in the mood to bring it to the next level.
Courage, dignity and bravery are the marks of this powerful Sun – Mars position. We wake up to the fact that things have changed in a big way as a wave of confidence and strength unites the country.
Now just before you fly out the door with your banner in hand we might want to take into consideration that the Sun and Saturn will have formed an opposition at the time of the equinox that may very well cast a heavy shadow of some sort and it will have to be sorted out throughout the year. Saturn usually brings us back to reality. We have bills to pay. The party is over and back to work we go. Saturn – Sun combinations may also indicate a falling out amoung the high and mighty, perhaps more legal wrangling or political enmity – nothing new here. We move into the problems and deal with them as best we can.
Mars and Saturn form a cooperative aspect at the time of the equinox that indicates a spirit of cohesion and combined effort will get it done. Remember that the energy of the planets at the time of the equinox will resonate throughout the coming 12 months. All in all it is a great year, one that will stand out as the year that it all changed. Now we must address the most pressing issues such as poverty and its impact on the nation. We must strive to find a way to house and educate all of our children and all of our people. Without proper education and nutrition one cannot grow and move forward. Housing, poverty and education are the topics that need to be addressed. Make books, not bombs, build houses, schools, and hospitals and help to put the war machine to rest. Yes we have work to do, problems to be met, and now we have an infusion of unity, confidence and courage to help us in our striving for the betterment of all.
Transiting Pluto has formed an opposition with the Moon in Canada’s birth chart. It is another powerful indicator that we are in transition as an old way of being dies off and a new awareness of ourselves begins to congeal and take birth. This period of transition will last over the next several years and we will look back at 2010 as the year that it all began.

The Moon visits Taurus at the time of the Spring Equinox on March 20. The Sun enters Aries on that day and becomes exalted and the Moon in Taurus is exalted as well. It just means that they operate at their best when the planets are in their signs of exaltation. It truly is time for spring cleaning and time to clear out the accumulation of excessive baggage, body, mind and soul. The planets are holding great promise for your sign, especially in April and May. Now is the time for the behind the scenes type of work to occur. Deal with matters of the heart and home. Soon you will be relieved that you did. It may be time for some soul searching and making decisions on what you discover in order to bring peace and happiness your way.

The stars are aligned nicely for Gemini throughout the month. Anticipate changes and challenges in the job market that may very well be to your benefit. The page is blank and you can write your own script. Of course with the twins there is always two of everything. A spirit of cooperation will be evident along with the blossoming of new friendships and groups of people that share similar interests. You may feel emboldened and ready to take a few chances that you wouldn’t have taken in the past. Artistic expression gets a boost and overall general vitality propels you right through the springtime.
Family and career sectors are strongly activated at the time of the spring equinox on March 20. Certain demands keep you on the move. Concerns regarding elders may come up. Travel and adventure are on the menu for those of you that can get away for a while. A whole new outlook is probable and a spiritual discovery could be close at hand. Law, philosophy and the higher forms of education may be of interest now. All in all, 2010 is a time of metamorphoses in which a whole new you is born out of the ashes of what was in the past.

The heat is on, and the Lions are restless and hungry for adventure. Heave the rocking chair or recliner out the window, and remote along with it. In many ways, it is a now or never scenario, in which you make your move, pro or con as nothing will remain as it was. The Spring Equinox on March 20 heralds an energy shift and it is probably a good one. Make it a good one. Mars continues his journey through Leo and although he will instill courage and bravery he can also make you overconfident, blustery, pushy and cranky. So use moderation in all that you do and don’t be too heavy with the gas pedal. Fire, accidents and operations are the negative side of this Mars transit and on the positive it brings exploration and dynamic movement in all areas of life. Read the introduction regarding the Spring Equinox.

The Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Uranus are moving through your opposite sign Pisces as we head into March. It is your solar low of the year and it indicates a time to take a break and get some rest and recreation. There may be way too much on your schedule though to pay too much attention to the above commentary. Surprises and opportunities for advancement keep you keenly interested in all that is going on, all the more reason to set a pace and work within it. It is an exciting time and you will have to cope with it all some way. Beginnings and endings take place, as some folks leave the scene and other players appear. Well, you won’t be bored and if anything you may be cooking up a series of innovations and inventions, which of course is highly secret in the labyrinth of the Virgo mind. Some of your best work may manifest in the weeks and months to come.
The Spring Equinox on March 20 is significant for Libra as the Sun and Saturn form an opposition just after the Equinox. Regardless of the plan we may have in hand, Saturn usually has the master plan that one must abide by. Saturn is Moving through Libra which is his exaltation sign meaning that Saturn can operate at his best while traversing through this sector of the zodiac. Saturn brings reality sharply into focus. We see our limitations and learn to work within them. Saturn is the letter of the law while the scales of justice and fairness rule Libra. It tells of a time in which you work towards harmonizing with nature and natural living. True growth, internal balance and happiness are the results when one follows the dictates of Saturn. Conversely, ill health and myriad other problems come when we buck the laws of nature. Now is the time to balance the scales once again.
Mars, the traditional and old school ruler of Scorpio, is traveling through your solar career sector until early June. He gains momentum throughout the month and so should you. No one can out work you, and your dedication and devotion is noted and will move you on up the food chain. Creative energy is high and your social calendar will get a boost as well. Romantic energy, love, babies and all that is enjoyable comes your way. Reach out, think big and go for the gusto. Remember that the key to your success is being a team player. Any “Captain Bligh on the high seas” energy will bring strong reactions and the competition will be thick and heavy. No dull days, but adventure and success await thee.
The Spring Equinox on March 20 bodes well for Sagittarius. The energy present at the time of the Equinox will resonate throughout the year. The Sun, Mars and Saturn all cast positive energy your way. You can get things done without too much fuss. While others work on the pipes in the basement you’re looking at the whole neighborhood, community and country. It’s just like that. Sagittarius often has the big picture in mind and is able to influence it. It’s not a cakewalk though. If anything, there are many challenges and hurdles that must be overcome in order for you to experience the success that is indicated. Don’t waste your time on trivial issues but do throw your hat into the ring and contribute however you can. Love, travel and a possible move are in the works.

It took me a few moments as I searched the corners of my mind to find the word that most describes the energy of the times for dear Capricorn. It finally came to me – transcendence. You may transcend the limits of your own expectations and move beyond the realities that you thought possible. Internal, material and spiritual awareness become the features of the times. Lord Saturn sits high up in your solar chart as he visits Libra the sign of his exaltation. It means that he works his best in that sign and is able to wield his power and wisdom to the benefit of others. To illustrate the varied and different fates that Capricorns can experience, we have Tiger and Elin Woods, First Lady Michelle Obama, and closer to home in British Columbia we have our leader Gordon Campbell. In Ottawa and Washington we have our two leaders, Prime minister Stephen Harper and President Barack Obama, both with Saturn in Capricorn which gets them strongly into the Capricorn club too. It is a time to shed the old skin and like the phoenix you must rise again. Make it worthy, real and true.

You may feel slightly like E.T. who is just arriving home after a long stellar journey through the cosmos. It ain’t over yet and neither is your search for truth, reality and love. Know that the process of the last several years has been that of prying your fingers off the material things and probably has placed your awareness more along the lines of the spirit. You have probably learned many lessons and experienced many heart rending scenarios. Keep in mind that it stemmed from the pen in your own hand accordingly from the script of the past. It’s all good, if you are reading this it is good. It means you’re still here and the work continues. Keep giving love and forgiveness especially to yourself. Your world comes alive! Excitement, new people, new challenges and new destinies are yet to be discovered. Giddy up, go.

It’s your time to shine as Lord Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Uranus and the Sun visit your sign as March begins. Make the best use of this opportunity to create on a big level. Travel, education and fortuitous meetings and moves conspire to bring about serendipitous results. Moves across the country or across the hall make sense now. The New Moon on March 15 is power-packed and it will bring a time of shifting, changing and revolutionizing to your life in some way. The hour has arrived and it may be your defining moment. Fear not and if anything assist the process of making the important and dramatic changes that will come up. Freedom, excitement and adventure await thee. Go and see.

In the January edition of this column I had expressed my consternation regarding the solar eclipse and planetary positions on January 14/15. It was the most powerful eclipse that we have experienced for at least a decade. I stated that the karmic angels were afoot and something big was cooking. It made me sweat and squirm in my seat just thinking about it. The nations of the world would have to muster together in order to deal with whatever came our way. Two days before the eclipse a tragic and devastating earthquake shattered Haiti and its inhabitants. Millions are suffering and it will take some years for life to return to some form of normalcy for the dear souls that are left in the wake of events in the last few weeks. Another shock came as President Obama suffered a serious defeat in the senate on healthcare reform. We will see the fallout in the months to come. The gloves are off and those that oppose his leadership will stand out now.
The 2010 Winter Olympics commence on February 12 at 10:A.M. The planets are aligned nicely as the games get under way in Whistler, B.C. Interpreting planetary symbolism is the art and craft of any worthy astrologer. I cannot help but notice that the symbol of the winter games called, Iianaaq the Inukshuk is in the form of a human being. The symbol for Aquarius is also the form of a human being. The Sun and Moon, along with Mercury and Neptune are visiting Aquarius at the commencement of the games. It tells of a time in which we can invoke the true spirit of Aquarius, bringing people together from across the globe to share in the glory of our youth’s efforts and achievements, which will be etched in our memories forever. Arms extended, we welcome one and all to our fair land.
The Aquarius New Moon on February 13 has a few unique qualities to it. The Sun, Moon and Neptune are closely associated at the time of the New Moon bringing a Neptunian flavoring to the event’s that come to pass throughout February. On the positive side of the coin Neptune represents compassion, caring, service and love on a universal level. The Olympics are a global phenomenon and all eyes are looking our way. On the other side of the coin Neptune can indicate confusion, misdirection, suffering, addiction, escapism and possibly fanaticism. Mercury and Mars are in opposition adding lots of spark, tension and probable confrontation as those that need to oppose will strive to have their voices heard. Accidents and calamities are probable and we should be wise, cautious and patient throughout these dynamic and intense days, especially February 12, 13, and 14.
To weigh up the planetary influences it would be my estimation that by the time of the closing ceremonies on February 28 we will hold our heads up with pride that we weathered, overcame and succeeded wonderfully. The full Moon on February 28 has Jupiter involved and he brings, joy, happiness, abundance, achievement and awards as Jupiter is the ruler of all competitions, athletics and certainly awards of human endeavors and accomplishments. Well Done, Canada!

Fiery Lord Mars casts excellent energy your way throughout the month of February The new moon on February 13 also contributes nicely as a series of serendipitous events come together. You may be working hard and now your efforts are starting to pay off. Mars and Mercury are in an opposition pattern on February 12/13 and you will have to be cautious as heated words and exchanges may possibly take place. Saturn spends the month moving through your opposite sign Libra helping you in many ways, especially with the tasks of creating a harmonious and rhythmic lifestyle. New circles of friends are developing and it may benefit you to seek and join up with others that share your interests and passions. It is an exciting time and the future is heading your way at lightning speed. Pay now and play later, or play now and pay later.

“Before enlightenment chop wood and carry water, after enlightenment, chop wood and carry water.” This seems to be a fitting description of the energy on board throughout February for Taurus. The stars are at crossroads regarding your sign and you will have to be on your best behavior in order to get through the days unscathed. Any misuse of power probably will backfire and if you become too bullish in order to get your way others will react. Bide your time and wait for clear skies. Popularity gets a boost and those that know and value you will show their love and support. It is time to open up and socialize developing new friendships and contacts. Creative energy is brimming and the workload is increasing. You have to set a pace in order to deal with it all.

The Aquarius New Moon on February 13 along with the planetary positions meshes nicely with your sign. It’s your kind of time. The spirit of Aquarius shines through the days, and like Gemini, Aquarius is an air sign and is based on cooperative efforts, which is obviously about communications and agreements. This is where you come in to the play strongly now. The time and atmosphere is just right and you can gain considerable yardage with any serious effort on your part. Your solar career sector is hot and your solar travel houses are humming. It tells me that you may be very inspired and chock full of creative, innovative ideas that the world needs to learn about. Spiritual awakenings and longings manifest and should be tended to. Busy, busy.
Venus and Jupiter light up your solar 9th house of travel after February 11. They are called the lesser and greater benefic planets and they are considered to be Brahmin class planets of the highest order. On a deep level Venus enhances and effects our higher qualities such as love, compassion, caring, ethics and morality. Jupiter symbolizes our higher concepts of caring be it in the educational, legal, medical or social areas of our lives. Venus and Jupiter cast fine energy into your sign throughout the last half of the month bringing untold blessings. Possibly you will meet the love of your life while you’re beachcombing in Maui or whatever exotic place that suits your fancy. For the less adventurous lunar types, February may pass by unnoticed. I know it is an odd comment, but sometimes when we’re having a good time the time flies by unnoticed. There is a lot of grace around and you can get further with less effort if you take advantage of the opportunities that are staring right at you.
When the Sun travels through your opposite sign Aquarius it heralds your solar low of the year. It is a time to rest, recuperate and recover. This year may be different though. Mars continues his journey through your sign and there may be no time for rest. If anything you may be very restless, up and on about something. Positive or negative, this is a hot time and will not pass without some important, intense and dynamic developments taking place. Mercury and Mars form an opposition on February 12/13 and the sparks will be flying, and some folks crying, if temperance and patience are not heeded. Remember that a cut from a sword heals in a short time, but a cut from sharp tongue may fester for a lifetime or more. True bravery is needed. Neptune joins with the Sun and Moon at the time of the New Moon on February 13 and is another indicator that the trickster is out and about and confusion, misdirection, and misplaced affection can all wreak their havoc. Stay clear, clean, honest and sober. Those that are spiritually receptive may experience some divinity, visions and epiphanies throughout the month.
Venus and Jupiter cast their blessings your way throughout the last three weeks of February. They will be moving through your opposite sign Pisces which is just about the best place that these two benefic planets can be. It is time to spiff things up to their brightest shine. A redo, remake and overhaul may be in the works. Isn’t it wonderful, what love will do? Charity does begin at home and now it is time for you to be charitable to yourself. Saturn is still etching his deep wisdom into your soul as he revisits Virgo from April through to the end of July. These are school days with lots of learning, especially in the classroom of life. It is time to perfect your skills, get married, have babies, get a job and get it all working in a rhythmic fashion, body, mind and soul.
Saturn continues to make his presence known as he extends his visit to your sign. We can dress him up and describe him with flowery words, but beneath the cloak he is still stark and stern and extracts his due, one way or the other when he comes a calling. He helps us to see our limitations and working slowly over time he helps us to clear our imperfections. Now Mercury, Mars, the Sun, Moon, and Neptune all conspire in a good way as they work in harmony and cast their good energies into your sign, especially around February 12/13. A new start is indicated as you work on clearing the past and welcoming the future as you balance the present. Health, work, diet, and of course, all relationships get a work out. “Be kind to yourself” is the main mantra of the times.
In the last few weeks of February Venus and Jupiter will be traveling through Pisces which is a sign harmonious to Scorpio. Opportunities develop in business and romance. At the least, Venus and Jupiter’s positive energies will bring good effects into your life, bringing a brighter picture into focus. Renewed hopes and dreams sustain you. Children, babies and what they bring into our lives may feature prominently. It may not all be a cake walk though as Mars and Mercury cross swords and you may be affected through confrontations, aggravation and irritation, especially on February 12 and 13. Things may not be as they appear and it is important to avoid knee-jerk reactions when all the facts or truths may not have came out yet. Sweet and sour is the mix of the times. By this I mean that there is an opportunity to create love and harmony or just the opposite if you have to go that way. It is all within how you perceive life to be. Long term tensions may simmer throughout the winter and spring seasons if you allow.
A very interesting time period has developed. The transiting planets are casting good rays your way. It is time to jump in the saddle and head out on some high adventure, be it in the world of high finance, politics, spirituality, leadership, education, or foreign policy. Whatever your hobby horse, whatever your passions, now is the time ride out and meet your fate and destiny. Nothing ventured, nothing gained is the mantra for the times for your sign. You are the true ringleader, although there are a few Leo types that would beg to differ. Family, home, and real estate all figure prominently now. Buying selling, moving, upgrading, family reunions, and other unions are all destined to take shape and fall in to place.
The only problem with reaching the pinnacle of success and achievement is that there is only one way to go from there, which of course is downwards. Tiger Woods and his wife are born a day apart different years, both at the end of December. The glare of the public eye has dimmed a bit and now they must pick up the pieces and hopefully put their lives back together. They are a fairly good template for the energy that is on board presently for Capricorn. Success and power is a slippery slope and things can change rapidly. Venus and Jupiter cast fine energy into your sign in the last three weeks of February bringing a series of short journeys and possibly some excellent developments in the media and communications areas. “Strive not to be seduced” is the mantra of the times for your sign.
The Aquarius New Moon on February 13 is accompanied by Neptune enhancing the realms of hope and compassion, healing, helping and serving humanity however we can. Record your dreams and follow your intuition as it will be strong throughout February. Neptune has an escapist quality to it, and often times Neptune’s influence will make us vulnerable and not able to cope with the transgressions and abuse wherever it may be. It is a time to seek spiritually, but carefully as you may be easily manipulated or influenced.
Go slow until you know. Acting, music, entertainment, humanitarian work and artistic expression become enhanced. Astrology and metaphysics become attractive to you. Your earning power may get a boost as well. It is time to draw to yourself what it is that you truly need and want.
Venus and Jupiter move through Pisces in the last few weeks of February. This certainly is good news as Jupiter is the ruler of Pisces and Venus is exalted there. Venus and Jupiter are Brahmin class planets and they bring privilege, wisdom, opportunity and goodwill to the table. Love, travel, spiritual seeking and enhancement in the quality of life should come your way, nay, not should but will come your way. Make it happen by making the moves that you always wanted to make. A new chapter begins with blank pages just waiting for you to fill them. You can just get by and it may not be too hard to do, but that would be a mistake and misuse of this very opportune time in which you can truly bring some peace and happiness into your life. The Full Moon non February 28 brings revelations and epiphanies.

“No two Astrologers shall agree upon anything,” was the curse that Lord Vishnu cast upon the stargazers, when he realized that they we’re affecting his life too much. The curse seems to still be in effect. In one of the glossy rags dedicated to professional astrology, an astrologer wrote that the upcoming solar eclipse on January 14, 2010 was fairly benign. As for myself, in my humble opinion, I carry the exact opposite view. The solar eclipse on January 14/15, 2010 is the most powerful, important and potent eclipse that we will experience in the next ten years. I don’t think that we need to hide under our desks on January 14, and we will not witness the eclipse as it occurs late at night well after sunset. No starry phenomena to stare at, but lots of very dynamic karmic action unfolding and manifesting as huge events that affect the destiny of man in the days, weeks and months after the eclipse.
The eclipse takes place in late Capricorn, the sign of big business, governments and all ruling agencies and parties. Saturn, lord of the eclipse rises in Libra as he reaches exalted status. This just means that whatever Saturn stands for will be in effect strongly. Saturn in Libra represents the effort to bring things to order and balance. Judgments are made, decisions that affect the world take shape and are put into place. So far, we’re just doing our normal observations as we strive to understand planetary behavior. What gets me squirming in my seat is the fact that this particular solar eclipse conjuncts U.S. President Barack Obama’s Saturn and First Lady Michelle Obama’s Sun indicating very important developments taking place that will have a powerful effect on their lives, the lives of the people that they lead and those that oppose. Just before you nod off with the numbness of yet another astrologer droning on about the forebodings of the future, we might want to take into consideration that at the time of the eclipse Saturn is practically stopped in the sky as he prepares to retrograde and at the same time Mercury the planet of communications, plans, business and commerce also is reversing direction, each within a day of the eclipse. Yes this makes me sweat and I can only imagine what will be born out of this time period. We had a major solar eclipse involving Saturn in January 1991 just at the start of the gulf war. This eclipse effects the most powerful man in the world and his wife. They are the leaders of the free world and big movements are in the wind.
Venus, Lord of Libra is in conjunction with the eclipse. Venus and Saturn are in mutual reception meaning that they are in each other’s signs, yet another indicator that the karmic angels are afoot. On top of this fine planetary entanglement is the fact that stationary Mercury is conjunct with Pluto, while stationary Saturn is in square with Mercury and Pluto and is a final indicator that something is up and soon enough we will hear all about it as man continues to find ways to live and cooperate with one another.
Now is the time in which we must work our hardest and strive our strongest in order to bring a lasting peace to this little piece of real estate that we tentatively coexist on. No doubt the forces of darkness and light will clash once again. As ominous and oppressive as it all sounds, keep in mind it is nothing new as this is the general fare of existing in the plane of duality under the sway of the mind and senses. The Great Saint, Baba Sawan Singh Ji Maharaj said that where there is mind and Maya, there can be no peace. What we’re after lies above the causal plane, where duality leaves off and we begin to come into our own as we rise higher and higher back to our true home high above the stars, suns, moons, planets and galaxies. No fear, no worry, only love and more love will do. See you on the high side.

Gird your loins, put on your helmet and shoulder pads and be ready for the rocket ship ride of your life in 2010 – 2011 and onwards, upwards and maybe even sideways. I’m trying to keep it down, but being an Aries myself, I can hardly contain my excitement as I contemplate the presence of Jupiter and Uranus in Aries starting in June 2010. Have no shame in your game and after you have dreamt up what you really want to do and what you want to make, double it and go for it. Most importantly, don’t lose sight of the true goal which is self realization, spiritual emancipation, freedom and love. Now get busy.

You’re off the hook, you get a free pass and the road in front of you is clear of obstructions. I know it sounds weird, so let me take another run at it. The stars are looking the other way, they are not in the way, and although we cannot claim a clear karmic ledger as long as we dwell on the earth, it seems to me that Taurus is getting a cosmic break of sorts. Oh yes there will be a fair share of planetary activity affecting your sign throughout 2010, but none directly, or too dramatically. Family and real-estate feature, as do health matters, but mainly you may be seeking a deeper significance and meaning to life and you may possibly commence a search for the truth.
Read Taurus as the general tenor will be the same for your sign. The big planets are not moving through Gemini in 2010, but will affect your sign as they cast aspects such as squares, trines etc. Your solar career sector heats up throughout the year as special offers and opportunities present themselves. A career makeover may be in the wind. Children and all that they represent will become an important feature throughout the next two years. Long term romances may flourish. Travel, academia, and the countless and never ending curiosities that percolate the labyrinth of the Gemini mind will be pursued with a renewed interest and vigor. New contacts, new circles and friends morph into existence, no doubt to your delight. Writing and research fill the days.
January to June is your prep time as you gear up, man up and make ready for a cornucopia of challenges and changes of the most dramatic kind. You may get a whiff of what is in the wind in the guise of potential new job offers that may be tantalizingly desirable but dangerous, life altering and no doubt, exciting. A deep and profound relationship may alter your course and you may discover that you are in the midst of an important redirection, orientation and rebirthing on many levels. You are a dynamic cardinal water sign indicating great passion and energy in all that you do, tenacious no doubt, and more than capable when the mood strikes you right. Home, family and education feature prominently now. Get a move on.

In the Wizard of Oz, the Lion was on his way to see the Wizard so that he could gain his courage and pride. When he bullied the Tin Man the girl smacked him and called him a coward. He wept and soon they were off on their search. It might be your time to find the wizard or at least regain your courage, pride and strength. Mars continues his visit to your sign until early June helping you in every way. Mars represents exploration, confrontation, strength, metal, fire, surgery, battles and bravery. It is time to take a stand for what you believe in. New vistas are opening, new adventures of the highest kind are looming just over the horizon. Suck it up and move towards the future. Travel and the higher mind are hot topics, soon to be hotter as the year progresses. Do be careful as the Mars energy can be lethal if mishandled. Respect machines and fire and try to curb the daredevil thing, unless that really is your thing.

Saturn spent the last two years moving through Virgo. He is not light and frivolous in his ways and often brings serious life changing events into our lives. The economy has been tough and the job market scarce. I think of Virgo as the perfect sign that can accommodate Saturn’s dictates and doctrines as the planet Saturn and the sign Virgo have the same modus operandi. Order and harmony, hard work, dedication and devotion are the key words for this Saturn and Virgo combination. Uranus is moving though your opposite sign Pisces and Saturn will make an opposition with Uranus in the spring of 2010. Those born between September 19 and 21 will be most affected. Saturn demands that you live in a natural, organic way, while Uranus challenges us to be original. I call it the double ‘O’ effect, as in Organic and Original. It may be time to revolutionize yourself in some way, or possibly the universe will do it for you. It’s all good.
A profound time is shaping up as the big planets line up in Libra, Aries and Capricorn in 2010. Saturn visits Libra which is his sign of exaltation indicating that you can get the best from his visit. His ways are starchy, rigid and generally not much fun, but like taking castor oil, although not desirable, will make you feel better in the long run. Jupiter and Uranus begin their journeys through your opposite sign Aries starting in early June guaranteeing to bring exciting, challenging and dynamic energies and changes into your life. Don’t look back and certainly gear up for all kinds of dynamic changes that will take place in 2010-11. Health, harmony and balance are the key ingredients for success.
There is no major direct planetary activity out of the ordinary affecting your solar chart in 2010. Although most assuredly there will be plenty of planetary action that will affect the various planets in your birth horoscope that might prove to be important throughout the year. Career opportunities and challenges still exist and it may be best to cut back expenditures and such in preparation for Saturn’s visit to your sign from the fall of 2012 to December 2014. Follow your instincts for they are naturally strong in most Scorpio people. Slim and trim, meditate, follow a balanced diet and take care of your body and soul. This is the work now and will be the work of the future, but more intensely then if not worked on and balanced now. Take flight mighty warrior, spread your wings, fly high and catch a glimpse of the big picture.
A shift takes place as your ruling planet Jupiter moves into Aries along with Uranus in early June 2010. Both these planets will be casting their respective powers and gifts into your sign. It tells of a time of new adventures taking shape, the birth of a child or the birth of ideas that change your life. Jupiter represents expansion and prophecy, while Uranus offers innovation, invention and revolution. You may need something to sink your teeth into that ignites that internal fire of life, love and adventure. Think big and start acting on it, just like the seedlings that burst forth from the burnt forest floor bringing new life. Now it is time to come up out of the ashes.

The solar eclipse on January 14 is important, powerful and impactful. Read the introduction regarding it. Venus accompanies the eclipse and she represents, love, values, ethics and morality. Plus Mercury and Pluto are conjunct in Capricorn and squared off with Saturn the lord of the eclipse as he rises in the east in his exaltation sign Libra. It means that a potentially dangerous time has arrived and the seeds planted in past actions can take hold and bring their yields. Ask Tiger Woods. The lunar eclipse on December 31 fell across his sun line as we witness the devastation that is occurring in his life. Beloved, well meaning, super rich and famous, but humbled. I’m not kicking the man while he’s down, I’m helping him up, for I have walked in shoes and lost my family, from which one never really recovers. In essence it is a time of rebirthing and reinventing yourself on the deepest of levels.

It is a highly specialized time as Jupiter and Neptune have made their conjunction in your sign. Keep a diary and jot down your thoughts and inspirations, visions and dreams that come through now as there may be strong symbolic messages within them that you may not fully comprehend now. Soon life is going to take a quantum leap as the big planets start getting into the dynamic cardinal signs starting in early June 2010. They will be casting their positive energy your way and you should make best use of it. Neptune has had you in a slumber for some years and soon the fog will lift and you will see clearly which path to tread on. Awake and shake it off. Mars casts powerful rays as well, bringing intensity and dynamic energies that must be handled accordingly throughout the winter and spring. Use it as spring board into the future.
Jupiter visits Pisces from mid January to early June bringing special breaks and blessing. Abundance, a change of scene, travel and a renewed self confidence propels you along nicely. Important changes take place in the spring time and you may enjoy what it is all about. There are hurdles, blocks and other concerns that will come up that will have to be dealt with and again you may not mind. A new spiritual hope springs up and opportunities for travel and advancement take shape. It is an exciting time and you should ride it accordingly. Adventure, discovery and freedom become the keywords of the day.

by Mac McLaughlin | Dec 1, 2009 | Weekly Forecasts
December promises to be hot. I know that it is a ridiculous statement, but nonetheless, it will be a hot month regardless of the weather. We have heard the term, “Once in a Blue Moon”, and it refers to a calendar month with two full Moons in it. We start the month with a full Moon on December 1, and we finish the month with a full Moon, a ‘Blue Moon’ and Lunar eclipse to boot on New Year’s Eve. No, the Moon is not going to turn blue, but you might if you hold your breath long enough. While we dance the night away or the month away, Mars shows up and makes his presence known. He is moving through Leo and he is slowing down as he seemingly stops and reverses his direction on December 20, just a day before the winter solstice. A slow moving planet has lots of power and Mars can be coarse in his ways. Leo is a comfortable sign for Mars, as the Sun, Lord of Leo is friends with his fiery brother. God knows what this combination will cook up for mankind to dine on.
While, we’re sorting through the probable antics that the planets will bring our way we can look at a few world leaders and see how their charts are measuring up with the planetary positions. In ancient times horoscopes were cast for royalty, because the King or Emperor’s fate reflected the destiny of the masses. We await with high anticipation the fateful date of December 21, 2012. It’s all over the media these days, endless articles and programs carrying on about it. It is the date of the end of the Mayan Calendar. Prophesies abound, with the great astrologer Nostradamus leading the way as we brace for apocalyptical days. In Nostradamus’ predictions he talks about a great and powerful Solar Eclipse around the time of the 2012 phenomena that would have a major effect on mankind. Well I have checked every solar eclipse from now until 2020 and the only one that really measures up Nostradamus’ description occurs on January 14, 2010! Two other solar eclipses that will affect Canada and the U.S. will take place on January 6, 2019, and June 21, 2020. More on these dates later. The effects of a solar eclipse may last for up to five years. If the eclipse lands on a personal planet in your birth chart it will point to important karmic developments that have ripened and matured and now must be endured, positive or negative, according to our karma and the condition of our birth horoscopes.
What I am carrying on about is the fact that the solar eclipse on January 14/15, 2010 will conjunct U.S. President Barack Obama’s Saturn and Michelle Obama’s Sun, bringing a most powerful fate and destiny into their lives. Well, they are the leaders of the free world and of course they have massive responsibilities on their shoulders. In the midst of this concern, Mars comes along and becomes stationary on December 20, 2009 at 19 degrees of Leo which happens to be the seventh house cusp of President Obama’s horoscope. It is the house of marriage or war. Those that oppose or stand by us in battle are represented by the seventh house. This Mars position puts him in grave danger, whilst the planet Uranus makes an opposition to President Obama’s Mars, at the same time increasing the likelihood of some type of great upset or concern unfolding. The stress and strain of office may take its toll and a rest may be needed. I pray that none of this comes to pass and I hope that they will come through unscathed. I cannot imagine the hefty and weighty decisions that will have to be made in the near future in order to handle the problems of our world. So, my guess is that whatever happens in the short term surrounding this eclipse will snowball into the concerns we’ll have to deal with over the next several years.
The tension in the middle east is not diminishing at all as the world powers and Iran continue their nerve jangling game of nuclear chess. Pluto continues his journey through Capricorn and will make an opposition to the Sun and planets in the Canadian and U.S. charts until 2015 indicating an important time in which great changes take place within our societies and cultures. It gets darker and darker, and lighter and lighter as the forces of positive and negative energy continue their eternal struggle for dominance. We know in the end that the light and the positive will win. No doubt about it. A rebirth occurs and a new spiritual, less materialistic reality becomes the norm over time. So I think the Mayans are right and the world as we knew it, is dying off and the world of the future is coming to life. Dying and birthing, birthing and dying, oh yes, here we go. No fear, as the karma or drama was written and signed for long ago, possibly further than we could ever imagine. It’s all good and it is all grace in the sense of the opportunities to get it right and to bring some type of peace to the planet. Nothing less than a total catharsis of our ways and values will do. As my Guru would say, “You cannot wash away blood with blood, but only with the waters of forgiveness.” Mankind must awaken to this universal, spiritual thought.
We all want to be treated well and respected. When the pundits weighed in on President Obama’s deep bow when he met the leaders of Japan, they said it was embarrassing that he would bow to anybody. In my mind it represented the deep humility and respect that abides within Barack Obama. Imagine the man (King or President) with the most power in the world in his hands, coming to your door step with a deep gesture of kindness and respect. It is what is needed. Let’s drop the ego B.S. and embrace one another and get on with the business of feeding and educating all people in all places. Remember the mantra, “One love, one people, one planet.”

The December skies favour dear Aries. Travel and career sectors are alive and activated. Publishing and education feature strongly along with opportunities for growth and expansion work-wise. Romance, adventure and excitement fill the days. It sounds like you will be very busy right through the month. Although the stars are favouring you, it does not mean that it is a cake walk at all. If anything, you may be going through a deep transformative process on many levels of your life, some comfortable and some of it possibly excruciatingly difficult. A few losses are indicated and some things will end. Go with the flow and keep moving in the direction that serves you best and brings the most contentment. New alliances and friendships are developing, and for some of you the birth of a child may change the course of your direction. Long held notions come to an end as a new light of understanding begins to dawn in your consciousness.
An interest in the afterlife may come up now. The urge to get to the deeper intrinsic meaning of anything and everything may drive you these days. Life and death, inheritances, taxes, joint and shared monies are all strong topics throughout December. A new spiritual awareness is developing along with increased opportunities professionally. Music, art, magic and mysteries capture your attention. You may be traveling in the last portion of the month, after the winter solstice on December 21. You will have to chill out and cope with ongoing irritants that continue to trip you up for the next few months. Moves, construction, buying and selling of property are in the forecast, which seems ridiculous for most sedentary Taurus types around Christmas time. Possibly it may be just a great amount of action at home with family and friends.
The majority of planets are casting fine energy your way throughout December. A quickening effect is noticed and life’s activities pick up, creating an increased demand on your time, which you may not mind. The month starts off with a bang as the full Moon on December 1, takes place in your sign. Plus Mercury and Neptune harmonize bringing a flow of ideas and intuition that serves you well. You may have to conserve your energy somewhat as this is your solar low time of the year until December 21. Conserve and preserve is the way to go. Relationship prospects brighten romantically and socially. It is time to broaden and open your world through travel and education, possibly both.
Read the introduction regarding the Blue Moon lunar eclipse on New Year’s Eve. It takes place in your sign. All full Moons are impactful for Cancer people as the Moon is your ruler. This particular full moon brings epiphanies, conclusions and illumination on concerns that have been ongoing. If you are born around July 2 the influence will be felt strongly. Changes are in the wind. You may be restless and stirred up about something. Mysteries may be revealed, or further concealed. Attractions, possibly dangerous ones should be avoided if you can help it. Endings and beginnings take place along with births and deaths. Late December into January is a time that you will have to pace yourself and conserve your energy. Power, love, fame, family and wealth are topics of obsession or strong interest in the weeks and months to come. Allow the universe to guide you along and it will do so unfailingly. You may be compelled in a way as never before. Go easy and slow till you know.
The heat is on as Mars lingers in your sign until early June. Mars represents fire, aggression, exploration, heroism, war, sports, competition, anger, jealousy, operations, accidents and injuries. The list is long but the point is that you must use and accommodate this Mars energy in some way in your life. If you are an adventurous sport enthusiast that loves swashbuckling on the high seas then your time has arrived. If you are a heavy duty shark lawyer or mobster, gangster or whatever, then your time has arrived as well. Welders, surgeons, builders, engineers contractors, rebels, solders, firemen, police officers, agents and counter agents are all on the move. Actors, entertainers, bouncers, weight lifters, and fighters will benefit from this prolonged and powerful visit of Mars to your sign. Gear up, gird your loins and prepare for action. Getting in shape, working out, learning technical skills, and doing research and science are other positive Mars activities.
Saturn completed his two year transit through Virgo in late October. Often we feel the pinch when Saturn is around, as his message is one of scarcity. Now Uranus is still moving through Pisces which is opposite to Virgo and his influence usually is one of instability, change and surprise. In order to accommodate this unsettling influence it is better to flow with it rather than resist whatever changes are coming up. Career changes are probable as are lifestyle changes as well. In reality it is the universal karmic plan coming down exactly the way it is supposed to. Your plan is to stick with the program and lean into what must be done in order to bring order and rhythm in to your life. Jupiter visits your opposite sign Pisces starting in mid January and promises to bring abundance and opportunities your way throughout 2010. Get busy and move towards your goals.
The Moon passes through Libra from December 9 to 11, bringing you into your lunar high of the month. December 9 could be a heavy day and heavier evening if you allow. December 10 is much brighter and December 11 even better. Confidence, energy, and strength all combine and you flow through the days in style, at least your style. The majority of the planets are in harmony with Libra throughout the first three weeks of the month. Artistic expression is strong for the creative and musical types, while all social activities and connections get a boost as well. The end of the month may be more challenging as the full moon lunar eclipse on New Year’s Eve may bring to light certain limitations or fears concerning home, family and work. Your hopes are high and the presence of Saturn keeps everything somehow balanced and not out of proportion. Anything that is out of balance most likely will be addressed in the next two years. Home, property, family, and children all figure into the mix as you head into 2010.
The Moon visits Scorpio on December12 and 13, heightening life’s activities considerably. Saturday December 12 has a great flow to it and the day passes by with hardly a notice. Sunday December 13 has a different tone to it and the morning’s peace may be fragile. Concerns that have not been expressed or voiced may build through the day along with a possible misunderstanding. It may be wise to avoid confrontation until the issues are clear. The natural ruler of Scorpio is Mars and he is in Leo until early June 2010. Leo rules your career sector in the natural solar wheel and indicates that you will be busy and the competition is on. Roll up your sleeves and wade in to the fray. It’s life just the way you like it. Jupiter casts his yearlong blessings your way starting mid January 2010, in the form of business connections, relationships and children’s interests. Go to work and do the Scorpio thing which is to lean in to what has to be done in order to bring success and happiness.

The full Moon on December 1 illuminates the pathway ahead. Revelations come flooding in regarding all aspects of your life. Health, home, career and relationships are in need of attention. The new Moon on December 16 occurs in your sign and is another indicator that changes are in the wind. The new Moon harmonizes with Jupiter and Neptune bringing a string of fortunate developments that lift your spirits. Venus the planet of love, money and creativity is moving through Sagittarius and is in triangle with Mars at the time of the new Moon, bringing excitement, attraction and action your way. In essence, the stars look good for Sagittarius and you can move through the month easily and gracefully, or you can roll up your sleeves and make dynamic things happen. Sincere efforts are rewarded. Effort creates opportunity. The early bird gets the worm and the late worm, well we know what happened to him. Values are changing and a new restlessness takes hold. Go with the flow.

The Sun enters your sign on December 21 as we celebrate the Winter Solstice. We experience the longest night and shortest day and we see evidence the day light is lengthening as we head into January. It is your solar high of the year in which you tend to shine a bit brighter. Venus the love planet enters Capricorn on Christmas day and makes a conjunction with Pluto on December 27 bringing some very interesting energy your way over the holidays. “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” is an appropriate slogan for this type of conjunction. Love and devotion deepen, mysteries abound, divorces and separations, births and deaths are all in the mix. The full Moon, Blue Moon lunar eclipse on New Year’s Eve will certainly put the spotlight on what it is all about. Revelations and epiphanies abound while rumors surround. Good old Mercury goes retrograde in your sign on December 27 adding probable delays and confusion into the recipe for the holidays. One prominent Capricorn, Tiger Woods is in the news regarding his accident at the time of this writing and he hasn’t made a statement yet, but from the look of his chart and the planetary activity affecting it, I would say the man is in trouble and will need our love and support to regain his status. The Lunar eclipse on December 1 falls across his Sun indicating important karmic changes coming up for the man. It is a most profound time in the fate and destinies of Capricorn. Stay in the light and go slow in all that you do.

A special conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune takes place in your sign just hours before the Winter solstice on December 21. Those born within a few days of February 14 will receive the lion’s share of what this conjunction is about. Jupiter is King of the Gods and he is known for his visionary gifts of prophesy, generosity and expansive ways, while Neptune connects us to the astral realms of consciousness. It means that some of you Aquarians are about to embark on a profound spiritual journey of discovery. Humanitarian, social and civic activities will draw your attention as well. Some Aquarians will gain great fame and fortune at this time. The only cautionary note is that there is a tendency to overdo things when Jupiter is around and Neptune at times can lead us down the wrong path. It is of utmost importance that you make the best choices that you can regarding healthy and productive lifestyles. Neptune loosens your grip on reality, making it easy to make mistakes. Caution with all substances is needed as this combination can enhance any form of addiction.

The Moon enters Pisces six hours after the Winter Solstice on December 21, bringing you into your lunar high of the month. The solstice heralds the onset of the winter season, a time in which we become more reflective and inward bound. While all of this is going on, Jupiter and Neptune are conjoining in Aquarius which is the twelfth sign from your sign. It tells of a time of openings in your consciousness advancement through intuition, epiphanies, dreams and visions. You may be packing your bags, literally or psychologically as you prepare to embark on new journeys of discovery. Your compassion level is high and you may be in the mood to do what you can to help others out. Stay open and listen to what the universe is saying as it is speaking loudly right now.

Welcome to our new format. I will be publishing this column once a month going forward. I have been writing a weekly column for nearly 12 years and it has become a bit of a drain. But on a monthly basis I can really sink my teeth into each column and give it the time it deserves.
We are coming into very interesting times as we move closer to 2010. The days are dominated by a malevolent square aspect involving Saturn and Pluto. Saturn moves through Libra and Pluto journeys through Capricorn. Libra and Capricorn are both dynamic cardinal signs giving them powerful status, as they lead off the fall and winter seasons.
Cardinal planets have great power and energy, enough to move the world and activate its armies, oppressors, terrorists, protesters, agents, saviors and heroes. Saturn strives to sustain the old tried and true methodologies which become ingrained as the proper and righteous way of conducting our lives. Pluto on the other hand behaves as Lord Shiva and seemingly destroys and rebuilds all old and decrepit structures and societies. Of course this energy plays out across the globe and is very evident in our culture and society.
Saturn and Pluto don’t have great reputations. They are neck and neck when it comes to death, pestilence, disease, poverty and destruction. They are symbolic deities representing karma on all levels of life. Now just before you dive under the bed trembling with fear, know that all life is cyclic and when life on Earth gets out of balance with global warming, wars, poverty and greed then the stars take hold in order to correct and aright the problems. We know that we’re in trouble and major changes are in the wind. We should welcome whatever the universe offers up. When we are under these pressures is when we will be at our most creative, and as we know, “Necessity is the Mother of invention.” Geo-thermal heating, solar panels, wind and sea power generation, electric automobiles, whatever, bring it on and let’s move into the future, and begin to erase the heavy footprint that we have made.
Cancer in all of its forms, the H1N1 virus, AIDS, you name it, we’ve got it. Saturn in Libra hammers out the tune of seeking justice, fairness and balance, while Pluto in Capricorn certainly will put the pressure on within all government agencies and bodies. The shaky political and religious hotspots will become even more so as the forces of light and darkness continue their dance throughout eternity. Yes it may get darker or it may get lighter, but God’s love will prevail and somewhere in our lengthy sojourn we will be resting in his bosom, high above the churning worlds of duality, negativity, poverty and pain.
The full Moon on November 2 will illuminate whatever problems and concerns are going on. Mercury and Mars are in the picture and they are squared off indicating an intense time. A standoff takes place and a war of nerves ensues. Heated and unkind words can cause long festering wounds that are difficult to mend. Fortunately, Venus and Neptune are in a triangle at the same time bringing opportunities for acts of compassion, forgiveness and kindness. As the Sun continues his journey through Scorpio we have the opportunity to resurrect, re-invent and renew ourselves. It is time to shed our skin and rebirth however we can on a personal, spiritual and collective level.
The last quarter square of the Moon on November 9 will enable us to put the finishing touches on whatever projects we have been working on. The LQS is likened to a shakedown cruise in which we get the final kinks and problems solved before we weigh anchor and embark on our voyage. Mercury is involved in this configuration and he is in square with Jupiter and we might want to keep a keen ear for overblown statements or offers of great returns for our dollar. In other words we may get lied to, deceived, hoodwinked and hustled. No new news here, just more of the same of those good ole Earth plane blues. We get to dine on the karma that we have cooked up personally and collectively. Do enjoy and hopefully we learn from the hard lessons offered.
Plots, plans and secret maneuvers are in the works as the Scorpio new Moon on November 16 squares off with Neptune. Things may not be as they appear to be, as often times there will be a hidden agenda and all kinds of scurrying about behind the scenes. Mars, lord of the new Moon approaches an opposition with Jupiter and neither planet is in his best sign according to Vedic tradition. Mars becomes stationary close to the winter solstice and it may very well indicate an intense and dangerous build up within all opposing forces. The line is drawn in the sand and we must all declare where we stand. Scorpio is also the sign of collective power and when needed can be activated quickly.
Although this all seems a bit top heavy with fear, it is not so. It is just my effort to call the cadence of the times and yes, the drum beat is a bit louder and more intense. Mars and Jupiter are the planets of courage, faith and exploration and when we use their energies properly we can move mountains and inspire the human spirit in all kinds of ways.
At the time of the first quarter square of the Moon on November 24 the Sun has commenced his journey through Sagittarius and the Moon is in Pisces bringing lord Jupiter strongly into play. The opposition between Mars and Jupiter continues to build in strength over the next month and they are fiery brothers associated with action, adventure, war, sporting events and all other activities that require strength, agility and bravery. Testosterone levels are on the rise. A very dynamic time is upon us and somehow we must use and accommodate the energy. It is a perfect time to sign up at the gym or to start hiking, rowing, skydiving – you name it, but it is time to get a move on and do your thing.
Jupiter and Neptune are closely associated throughout November and December heightening our spiritual receptivity, compassion and generosity. This conjunction of two very spiritual planets occurs in Aquarius, the sign of humanitarian love and caring. My beloved Guru, Param Sant Kirpal Singh Ji Maharaj taught us to love one another and to love the God residing in all beings. We say that we love God, but we do not love our brothers and sisters. We are here for love and only love. God is love and love is God and the way back to God is through love. He also taught me that the soul is young. I always thought it was old, but he says that it is young. Many of us recognize that we always feel youthful within our deep spirit, and it is true. The soul is young and lives beyond eternity.

A shift takes place at the end of October as Saturn enters your opposite sign Libra. Saturn helps us with the tasks of putting our lives together in a disciplined and balanced way. Often times Saturn seemingly brings on concerns and complaints, restrictions and losses. Approached another way, we could say that Saturn makes us aware of our limitations and weaknesses, not in order to punish us, but in order to help us bring on a natural state of being. It is a time of building, knitting and structuring your world to the best of your ability. Certain chapters of your life are bound to end as other realities come sharply into focus. Bite the bullet and do what you have to do in order to get yourself ready for a truly exciting future just up the road a bit. Your mantra for the times should be, “Spank me harder, bring it on, give me what you got.” In other words, welcome all karma gracefully and thankfully because you have the opportunity to break through to true freedom.

The full Moon on November 2 occurs in your sign. Just as the full Moon illuminates the night sky, it will illuminate your inner sky by bringing revelations and epiphanies regarding your present circumstances. Mercury and Mars are involved in the configuration heightening and heating things up all the way around. Intense encounters may take place and things said in the heat of the moment may cause serious rifts with friends and family. If you are working on a difficult project of any sort, this full Moon energy will help bring it all to a culmination and conclusion. The last quarter square of the Moon on November 9 offers up a time in which you can sort through any type of confusion. It may be best to understate rather than overstate any concerns. This is not the best time to make proclamations about what you are going to do as you may change your mind, and change it again. Assume nothing, get the facts and wait it out until clarity comes your way. The new Moon on November 16 also points to a new direction as the heat is still on and it may take quite a bit of work in order to get life on track again. Take it easy, especially on yourself, throughout this month.

November 4 and 5 are your power play days as the bright Moon passes through Gemini bringing you into your lunar high of the month. Although November 5 may have a few surprises in store, the day should turn out to your liking. Health and work issues may need to be addressed, and travel plans may materialize soon. Spiritual changes are in the wind and for some of you, new family life may be in the works. Relationship energies are building as well. The last half of the month may be a bit more trying as the Sun and Mercury travel through your opposite sign Sagittarius. It signals a time to slow down and nurture yourself. Publishing and educational pursuits are pressing and you may not mind. The new Moon on November 16 activates your solar sixth house relating to health and work concerns. Your instincts are running high and the urge to put it all together may be strong at this time. Too much work and not enough rest can bite you on the bum if you are not careful. Set a pace that you can live and cope with.

Saturn and Pluto have commenced their work as they visit Libra and Capricorn which are signs that square or oppose your sign. This tells of a time in which a great inner transformation may be forming in your psyche. Saturn helps you to deal with the reality of limitation and frustration and his square aspect works in the way of “work in action”. In other words, you learn and gather wisdom as you go, and it can be applied appreciably in the future. Pluto works by breaking structures down, or at least apparently so. Of course it is within our own karma as to how long anything will last. Anyway the point is that a time has come up in which the dynamics that held you together with some people are evaporating and you may become restless for change. Power plays, jealousies, intrigues, money and love all figure into the play in the not too distant future. Sounds like the makings of a good book. One more thing is that a great transformation will take place within a relationship. It will be awesome and powerful, such as the birth of a child or rekindling of a love or new life. Embrace what the universe sends your way as it is a form of grace.

November starts off with a bang, hopefully, not literally. The full Moon on November 2 occurs at right angles to your sign. It indicates a time in which life tenses up a bit and we have to press a little harder in order to get things right. Mercury and Mars are in the picture along with the full Moon and Mars is in Leo. It means that the swords can come out and you or others may blow off some steam and get things on the table. A downright battle may take place as others may get in your face. Mars represents fire, and as we know, fire is a good servant, but a bad master. Fire can heat the house or burn it down. It is important to measure then act rather than to just react as the stakes could be high. On another note, Mars and Jupiter form an opposition on the winter solstice this year and they are your fiery brothers. They are friends with the Sun and you may benefit. Acts of heroism and bravery may take place. You may feel more alive than ever and just waiting for your opportunity to make some moves. Now it has arrived. Prepare for adventure, danger, challenges, excitement and more, even a great inner awakening which is the best and strongest challenge of all. The urge to gamble is strong so you might want to keep a lid on it.

You get a reprieve as Saturn the task master has left your sign and will return in about five months from now for a brief visit to check up your progress. It’s all good, and it is the time to utilize the sobering truths and realties that have come your way in the last couple of years. Jupiter the planet of abundance visits your opposite sign Pisces for a yearlong visit starting in January 2010. He casts his glance your way from across the heavens, giving you the wink and nod for your effort and devotion. Life lightens up and so do you. Jupiter brings his treasure trove of opportunities for travel and education. Life takes on a shine that you may enjoy. As they say, “Make hay while the Sun shines.” The full Moon on November 2 illuminates your solar houses related to travel, publishing and education. A busy, active and lively time is predicted. The pace changes and picks up towards the end of November as the first quarter square of the Moon on November 24 is at right angles to Virgo indicating a high output of energy in order to meet and accommodate the demands of the day.

The full Moon on November 2 runs across your solar money houses and it may indicate some type of play regarding personal and inherited finances. Another take on this full Moon is that it can create the instinct to take stock of everything and of course, do the Libra thing, which is to find the balance. Lord Venus forms a triangle with Neptune bringing an idyllic state of affairs in which love, harmony and creativity flourish. Your spirit may be lifted and the urge to assist and help those that need it most may move you strongly. Social activities, entertainment and any type of beautification projects flourish nicely. Saturn is making his presence known as he has entered Libra and will be in the picture strongly over the next two years. Saturn is exalted in Libra meaning that he does well in this sign. Much depends on your present state of affairs regarding health and career. Saturn often signals a time to cut back, trim the fat and live on less. It makes sense to the balanced Libras and nonsense to those that want to ignore Saturn’s lessons. “Live clean and let your works be seen” is your mantra for the times.

The full Moon on November 2 will illuminate the night sky and your internal sky as well. Expressed another way, this is a time of revelation. Whatever has been held back and hidden may come out now. Mercury and Mars are involved with the full Moon indicating tense times in which angry words can be exchanged. You may be tested, tempted and challenged and you may say things that you really didn’t want to say. Venus spends the last three weeks of November moving through Scorpio and she brings love, peace, creativity, popularity and harmony your way. The last quarter square of the Moon on November 9 also carries some challenges that you should be aware of. Watch for the tendency to overreact or to blow things out of proportion. Things may get confusing and the lines may get fuzzy in the last half of the month. An intense fall and winter season is in store and you may enjoy being in the fray, whatever it may be. Coming home with powder burns on your cheeks may bring a sense of importance and belonging.

Mars and Lord Jupiter are coming into an opposition phase that carries on over the next five weeks. It indicates dynamic action all the way around. You may be stoked, ready to ride and lead the way. Your opinions will be heard one way or the other and you will be in a fiery mood, raving on about the injustices and all the dumb and ignorant things that go on. Now you can do something about it. The Sun enters Sagittarius on November 21 bringing you into your solar high of the year, and with this Mars – Jupiter opposition going on you may be more fired up than usual. Adventure, excitement and some danger are all ingredients in the play throughout this month. The first quarter square of the Moon on November 24 will bring some of this message into reality for you. It is a great time to make an offer, communicate and share your beliefs and visions. Mercury is in triangle with Mars on November 26 helping to hone and sharpen your intellect. You will be on a roll, and others just might have to step back out of the way as you are coming through. Most of all, make sure that you get up and do something now.

Lord Saturn is in square aspect with Pluto who happens to be in your sign. The combination offers up great tension as Saturn’s energy is to keep and maintain all traditional ways of running and protecting society. Pluto on the other hand represents corrosion, addiction, corruption, greed and power. So, we have these two forces, one wanting to maintain and the other wanting to destroy the old way of doing things. In one form we are evolving as we wrap our heads around the present day realities and we also witness the great suffering and complex concerns across the globe. You may have the wand of power in some way or form and it is imperative that you hold the flame high and stay out of the darkness as you can lose big time. You may be a great King or Queen, fondly remembered as a true benefactor. In general it is a time of endings and beginnings.

Two distinct planetary patterns that will affect your sign take place in early November. The full Moon on November 2 runs in square aspect with Aquarius and generally you would find these days to be trying and stressful. Mercury and Mars are involved as well and the whole group of them will affect your sign strongly. Tense situations come up and you will have to be on your toes in order to handle the challenges that come up in early November and right into the winter season. The other pattern of note is that Venus is forming a triangle with Neptune on November 2 and may very well offset the potential negativity indicated around this particular full Moon. Venus and Neptune are related to personal and universal concepts of love. Plus Jupiter and Neptune conjoin on the winter solstice this year bringing untold blessings, visions, breakthroughs and lucky breaks. Travel and matters of the higher mind come to the fore. Another manifestation of this energy is total escapism into a world of fantasy and imagination. Well, one thing is that you are morphing in consciousness and it may be wise to seek out and knock on the door to true inner contentment, beyond the confines of the mind , intellect and ego. Great adventures are about to take place.

Jupiter, the ancient and original ruler of Pisces comes home to his own sign in January 2010. He visits for the whole year bringing his blessings and abundance your way. He is King of the Gods and his energy is soothing and healing. Don’t wait for his benevolent glance, but get moving towards what you would truly love to happen in your life. No sense waiting for a handout or a blessing for they will come in their own time. If you are living true to yourself then freedom may be close at hand. It up to you to decide what freedom means. Your life may have changed in many ways as Uranus made his way through Pisces over the last several years. He is still on board until March 2011. His revolutionary tactics often bring changes that are shocking, upsetting and life changing. If the pathway has been cleared then Lord Jupiter brings his grace in the form of enlightenment. Jupiter and Neptune, co-rulers of Pisces, meet up in Aquarius mid-December and this is another harbinger of spiritual openings and possible miracles taking place. Humanitarian efforts may get a great boost and hopefully there will some breakthroughs in the news regarding how we care for one another…
